Why a paid converter is the one worth using

Free converters bury you in ads, cap your batch size, watermark your output and monetise your files. Video to GIF Cyborg is funded by you — so it works for you.

50 files in one batch

Convert up to 50 videos at once instead of one-at-a-time. No queue, no per-file wait.

Anonymous & private

No ad or analytics tracking on what you convert, and your files are never sold or shared for marketing.

Smaller files, no watermark

No watermark burned into your GIF, no ads around the download, and the palette is built per clip so colours stay true.

Free GIF converters exist because ads and your uploaded files pay for them — and they still cap you at one or two clips, stamp a watermark across the output, or hand back a banded, oversized GIF. Video to GIF Cyborg starts at €1 for a day, installs nothing, converts up to 50 files at once from 6 input formats, and builds a colour palette from each clip. No pop-ups, no watermark, no ad tracking.

MP4 to GIF

MPEG-4 Part 14

The format almost every phone and camera saves. Turning a short MP4 into a GIF is the usual way to get a clip playing inline in a chat, an issue tracker or a wiki page that will not embed video.

M4V to GIF

Apple MPEG-4 Video

Apple's variant of MP4, and what iTunes and some Apple software hand you. It converts exactly like an MP4 — the extension is the only real difference, so a GIF comes out just the same.

MOV to GIF

Apple QuickTime Movie

iPhone and QuickTime screen recordings. As a GIF they play everywhere without the MOV compatibility problems, which is why bug reports and design reviews are usually shared this way.

WMV to GIF

Windows Media Video

Old Windows screen captures and camcorder footage. WMV is refused almost everywhere outside Windows, so a GIF is often the quickest way to make a clip viewable at all.

AVI to GIF

Audio Video Interleave

Archive footage from older camcorders and recorders. A short GIF is a far easier way to show someone what is on an AVI than asking them to find a player for it.

MKV to GIF

Matroska Video

High-quality rips and long recordings. Trim the moment you want first — a GIF is meant for a few seconds, not a whole episode.

WEBM to GIF

WebM

Clips saved off the web. WebM already plays in browsers, but a GIF drops into Slack, Discord, GitHub and email where an embedded video will not.

All 7 inputs: MP4, M4V, MOV, WMV, AVI, MKV, WEBM, up to 200 MB per file and 50 files per batch. Output is an animated GIF at 12 frames per second, scaled so the longest side is at most 480 pixels, with a colour palette built from your own clip — the settings that keep a GIF small enough to actually send.

When a GIF beats a video

A GIF plays by itself, everywhere, with no player and no sound. Here’s where that wins:

W

Bug reports that explain themselves

Drop a GIF into a GitHub issue or a ticket and it plays inline. An attached MP4 becomes a link nobody clicks.

R

Slack, Discord and Teams

Chat apps autoplay GIFs in the message itself. A video sits behind a play button and usually a download.

P

Product and UI demos

A three-second loop of the feature working says more than a screenshot and needs no hosting.

F

Reaction clips

The moment from a longer video, on a loop, ready to paste anywhere.

T

Email and docs that reject video

Newsletters, wikis and knowledge bases routinely refuse embedded video but render a GIF fine.

S

Old footage worth showing

Pull a few seconds out of an AVI or WMV archive so people can see it without hunting for a codec.

Whatever the source, drop up to 50 files and get looping GIFs back.

Need a different format — or a different tool?

Need the video itself rather than a GIF? Video to MP4 keeps the sound and the full quality. Going the other way — a GIF you want as a real video? Image to WEBP handles animated GIF too. Starting from a link rather than a file? Video Cyborg downloads the video first.

Common questions

Getting started

What is Video to GIF Cyborg?
Video to GIF Cyborg converts video files — MP4, M4V, MOV, WMV, AVI, MKV and WebM — into animated GIFs. Drop your videos in and it hands them back as looping GIFs, up to 50 at a time.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Video to GIF Cyborg runs in your browser — no extension, no desktop software, no permissions. The conversion happens on our servers, so even a phone can convert a large batch without slowing down.
What devices and browsers are supported?
Video to GIF Cyborg works in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS 12 or later. Because the work happens server-side, a phone or tablet converts just as fast as a desktop.
Why is this better than a browser extension?
Four reasons: there is nothing to install and no browser permissions to grant; you can convert 50 files in one batch instead of one at a time; conversion runs on our servers, so it doesn’t slow your machine down or depend on your hardware; and we don’t sell or share your files, which is how most “free” extensions are funded.

Formats, batches & quality

Which formats can I convert to GIF?
MP4, M4V, MOV, WMV, AVI, MKV and WebM — 7 formats, up to 200 MB per file. Those cover essentially everything a phone, camera, screen recorder or browser produces.
Will my GIF have sound?
No — the GIF format has no audio track at all, so every GIF is silent. That is a property of the format rather than a limitation here: nothing can produce a GIF with sound. If the audio matters, convert to MP4 instead with Video to MP4 Cyborg, which keeps the sound and plays inline on most modern platforms. It is included in your account.
How many videos can I convert at once?
Up to 50 files per batch. Drop them all in at once — no queue, no per-file waiting. There’s no limit on how many batches you can run while your pass or plan is active.
Is there a file size limit?
Up to 200 MB per file, and 50 files per batch. Bear in mind a GIF is meant for a few seconds — trim long footage before uploading rather than converting an entire recording.
What quality will the GIF be?
GIF is a 256-colour format, so a GIF can never look exactly like the video — but the colours are chosen from your own clip rather than a generic palette, which is what keeps gradients and skin tones from banding. Output runs at 12 frames per second and is scaled so the longest side is at most 480 pixels. Those two limits are deliberate: at full resolution and frame rate a 30-second clip produces a GIF of roughly 79 MB, which no chat app, email client or issue tracker will accept. Clips already smaller than 480 pixels are left at their own size rather than being blown up.
How do I get the best-looking GIF?
Keep it short and keep the motion simple. GIF stores whole frames rather than differences, so a few seconds of a steady shot compresses far better than a long clip with a moving camera. Trim before you upload rather than after.
Can I adjust the output settings?
Not currently — Video to GIF Cyborg runs a single standard conversion tuned for a shareable file, with no frame rate or size settings to get wrong. If you need the full-quality video instead, use Video to MP4 Cyborg.

Pricing, privacy & limits

How much does it cost?
A €1 day pass gives you 24 hours of unlimited conversions. Yearly (€6) and lifetime (€30) plans are also available (+ VAT). Every plan unlocks all 79 AppsCyborg tools, not just this one.
How long does my download link stay valid?
60 minutes. After that the link expires and the converted files are removed — just re-run the conversion if you need them again.
Do you track or keep my files?
No. We don’t run ad or analytics tracking on what you convert, and your files are never sold or shared for marketing. Uploaded videos are processed only to build your GIFs and are removed once the 60-minute download window closes.
Is there a limit on how often I can convert?
No. While your day pass, yearly or lifetime plan is active you can run as many 50-file batches as you like — there is no monthly quota and no per-conversion charge.
Can I convert a GIF back into a video?
Yes, with a different tool — this one goes video to GIF. Video to MP4 Cyborg accepts animated GIF as an input and converts it to MP4, which is much smaller and plays inline on social apps that reject GIF uploads. It’s included in your account.
