PNG or JPG? PNG is lossless: text, tables, line drawings and screenshots come out clean. The usual objection is size, and at 300 DPI it mostly does not apply — measured on a text document, a PNG page averages 598 KB against 679 KB for the same page as JPG, so PNG is both sharper and slightly smaller. What is PDF to PNG Cyborg?

A web app that renders every page of a PDF as a PNG image at 300 DPI. Drop the file in and download the set — numbered in page order, no watermark, no ads.

How do I get the files?

A document of two pages or more arrives as one ZIP containing page-01.png, page-02.png and so on, so a 12-page file is a single download rather than twelve. A one-page PDF skips the ZIP and downloads as a single PNG.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes — pick the PDF from your files on Android or on iOS 12 and higher. Nothing to install. Note that a multi-page document arrives as a ZIP, which phones need a moment to unpack.

Quality & results

Should I choose PNG or JPG?

PNG for anything with text, tables, lines or screenshots — it keeps edges perfectly clean, and at 300 DPI it is not the bigger file people expect. Pages that are mostly photographs are the exception: there a PNG is roughly twice the size for no visible gain, so use PDF to JPG Cyborg. When in doubt on a document, PNG.

Aren't PNGs enormous?

Less than their reputation suggests, at least for documents. Measured across ten dense text pages at 300 DPI, PNG averaged 598 KB a page against 679 KB for the same pages as JPG — lossless and about 12% smaller, because PNG compresses the large flat areas of a page very well. A full-page photograph is the case that goes the other way: 7.6 MB as PNG against 3.8 MB as JPG. Expect roughly 600 KB per text page, so about 22 MB for a 37-page document.

Can I still select the text afterwards?

No — an image is a picture of the page, so the words can't be copied or searched. That's often the point, since nobody can edit it. If you need the words back, use PDF to Word Cyborg instead.

Do I get the images that are inside the PDF?

No — you get a picture of each whole page, text and all. To pull out the embedded photos on their own, use Extract Image PDF Cyborg.

What about password-protected PDFs?

An encrypted file can't be read, so the conversion stops and reports an error rather than handing back a half-empty ZIP. Remove the password first in the app you already open it with, then upload the unlocked copy.

When does the download link expire?

After 60 minutes. Save the file as soon as it's ready — after that the link expires and you'd upload the PDF again.
