EPUB to MOBI.

Convert EPUB books into MOBI files for your Kindle. Plug the Kindle in, copy them across, and they appear in your library with their chapters and cover intact. Up to 50 at a time. Worth knowing before you start: if you can email books to your Kindle, you probably do not need this conversion at all — the section below explains when you do.

Two steps. That's it.

Upload your EPUBs

One book or 50 at once
Drag in a single book or a whole folder — from your phone, tablet or desktop. Books bought from a shop are usually copy-protected and will be refused; the section below explains how to tell.
2

Download the MOBI files

Conversion runs on our servers, so a phone finishes as fast as a desktop. A single book comes back on its own; a batch comes back as one ZIP.

Grab it within the hour. Download links expire 60 minutes after conversion. Copy the file into the Kindle's Documents folder over USB and it appears in your library. Coming from a Word document rather than an EPUB? That's Word to MOBI Cyborg.

Why a paid converter is the one worth using

Free e-book converters are funded by advertising, and it shows in the limits: one file at a time, a size cap, and a queue. If you are moving a shelf of books onto a Kindle rather than a single title, the batch is the whole point.

50 books in one pass

A whole series, a backlog you have been meaning to read, everything you downloaded from a public-domain library. Queue the lot instead of feeding them in one at a time.

Anonymous & private

Your library stays yours. We don't track who converts what, and files are never handed to third parties.

No watermark, no sign-up wall

Nothing is stamped into your book and nothing is held back for a paid tier. What you download is the file.

Free EPUB-to-MOBI tools exist because advertising pays for them, and the model shows: one file at a time, a size cap, a queue, and an upgrade prompt when you drag in a second. Installing Calibre on your own machine is a genuinely good answer and costs nothing — it is the same conversion engine we run — but it is a desktop program to install, learn and keep updated. EPUB to MOBI Cyborg starts at €1 for a day, installs nothing, and takes 50 books at a time at up to 200 MB each.

When you need this, and when you don't

Both formats are reflowable e-books, so this is a clean conversion — chapters, cover and metadata all carry across and the Kindle treats the result like any other book. The honest question is not whether it works. It is whether you need it, because Amazon changed the answer a couple of years ago and a lot of guides have not caught up.

You may not need to convert at all

!

Send to Kindle accepts EPUB directly now and converts it on Amazon's side. If you can email or upload books to your Kindle, send the EPUB as it is and skip this page — that is genuinely the easier route.

When the cable is the only way

USB

An older Kindle with no working wireless service, a device you would rather not register, a book you want on the thing without it passing through Amazon at all. That is what MOBI over USB is still for, and it works.

Chapters and cover survive

Both sides are e-book formats, so the structure maps across cleanly: the chapter list, the cover and the title and author all arrive intact.

Copy-protected books are refused

DRM

Books bought from a shop or borrowed from a library are locked to an account and nothing here can open them. The file is refused rather than half-converted.

Nothing stamped on it

clean

No watermark, no advert chapter appended at the end, no banner on the cover. The file is your book and nothing else.

The honest caveat: Amazon is retiring MOBI

MOBI still opens on a Kindle and copying one across by cable still works, but the format is on its way out and it would be dishonest to sell this page without saying so. Amazon stopped accepting MOBI through Send to Kindle at the end of 2023 and stopped accepting it for publishing in March 2025, and in the same period it began dropping wireless service for Kindles made before 2013, pushing those devices to USB-only. So the case for converting is narrower than it was: an older Kindle, a sideload-only workflow, or a book you would rather not route through Amazon. If none of those describe you, send the EPUB with Send to Kindle instead — Amazon converts it on the way in and you skip a step. We would rather tell you that here than take a euro for a conversion you did not need.

Prefer to go wireless? Send to Kindle takes an EPUB as it is. Coming from a document instead? Word to MOBI Cyborg.

Who still converts EPUB to MOBI

Fewer people than a few years ago, and for more specific reasons:

W

An older Kindle

Devices that lost wireless service still take a MOBI over the cable perfectly well, which keeps a working Kindle working.

R

Sideloading a whole shelf

Fifty public-domain books at once, converted and copied across in one go rather than emailed one at a time.

P

Keeping Amazon out of it

Send to Kindle means the file passes through Amazon's servers. A cable does not, and for some books that matters.

F

A tidy library

Converted books sit alongside bought ones with covers and chapter navigation, rather than as loose documents.

T

Working offline

No account, no email round trip, no waiting for delivery — the file is on the device as soon as you eject it.

S

Archiving in both formats

Keeping a MOBI alongside the EPUB so an old device and a new one can both read the same book.

If one of those is you, upload your EPUBs and get MOBI files back.

Different format — or the other direction?

Going back to EPUB? MOBI to EPUB. Starting from a document rather than a book? Word to MOBI and Word to EPUB. Need the text back as something editable? EPUB to Word and MOBI to Word — all included in one account.

Common questions

Getting started

What is EPUB to MOBI Cyborg?
A web app that converts EPUB books into MOBI files for the Kindle, keeping the chapter list, the cover and the book's title and author. Upload up to 50 at a time — nothing to install and no watermark.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It works on all Android phones, and on iOS 12 and higher. Conversion happens on our servers, so a phone finishes as fast as a desktop — you only need a browser.
How do I convert EPUB to MOBI?
Two steps. Drag your books onto the upload box at the top of this page — up to 50 at a time — then collect the result. One book comes back on its own; a batch comes back as a single ZIP. There is nothing to install and no settings to pick.

Structure, size & batches

Do I actually need to convert, or can I just send the EPUB?
For most people, just send the EPUB. Send to Kindle has accepted EPUB since 2022 and converts it on Amazon's side, so if you can email or upload books to your device that is the shorter path and this page is unnecessary. Converting is worth it when the cable is your route: an older Kindle without working wireless service, a device you have not registered, or a book you would rather not send through Amazon at all.
How do I get the MOBI onto my Kindle?
Over the USB cable. Plug the Kindle into your computer, open it like a drive, drop the file into the Documents folder and eject — it appears in your library with the rest of your books. You cannot email a MOBI to a Kindle any more: Amazon removed MOBI from Send to Kindle at the end of 2023.
How many files can I convert at once?
Up to 50 per batch. Each result is named after the book it came from. One book comes back on its own; a batch comes back as a single ZIP.
Is there a file size limit?
200 MB per book, far more than an EPUB needs — you would only approach it with hundreds of high-resolution images embedded. A conversion that somehow runs longer than five minutes is stopped rather than left hanging.
Why does my book fail to convert?
Almost always because it is copy-protected. Books bought from Kobo or Google Play Books, and anything borrowed through a library, are locked to the account that got them, and no converter can open them — ours refuses the file rather than producing something broken. Books you made yourself, files from Project Gutenberg and Standard Ebooks, and anything sold DRM-free all convert normally.
Will the cover and chapters survive?
Yes. Both formats are reflowable e-books built on the same ideas, so the chapter list, the cover image and the title and author all carry across. The Kindle shows the result the way it shows any other book.
Is MOBI still worth using at all?
For sideloading, yes — it opens on a Kindle and copying it across by cable works. Beyond that the format is being retired: Amazon dropped MOBI from Send to Kindle at the end of 2023 and from KDP publishing in March 2025, and it is winding down wireless service for pre-2013 devices. MOBI files already on a Kindle keep working. If you have a modern Kindle and a working Send to Kindle, EPUB is the better target and you do not need this conversion.

Pricing, privacy & limits

How much does it cost?
A €1 day pass gives you 24 hours of unlimited conversions. Yearly (€6) and lifetime (€30) plans are also available (+ VAT). Every plan unlocks all 79 AppsCyborg tools, not just this one.
How long does my download link stay valid?
60 minutes. After that the link expires and the converted files are removed — just re-run the conversion if you need them again.
Do you track or keep my files?
No. We don't run ad or analytics tracking on what you convert, and your files are never sold or shared for marketing. Uploaded books are processed only to build your MOBI files and are removed once the 60-minute download window closes.
Is there a limit on how often I can convert?
No. While your day pass, yearly or lifetime plan is active you can run as many 50-file batches as you like — there is no monthly quota and no per-conversion charge.
Still have a question?
We usually reply within a day.
