Getting started

What does Polaroid Cyborg do?
It puts your photograph inside a white instant-photo border — an even margin on three sides and a deep blank one along the bottom. Drop a picture in and download the result, full size, no watermark. The picture itself is not altered in any way; the border goes around it.
Is the frame part of the image?
Yes — you get one flat image file with the white border baked in, so it looks the same wherever you post or print it. There's no separate transparent layer to line up.
Which formats can I upload?
JPG, PNG and WEBP. A JPG or WEBP comes back as a JPG at the quality your upload already had; a PNG, GIF, BMP or TIFF comes back as a PNG, so nothing lossless is quietly re-compressed. Anything else — HEIC from an iPhone, RAW from a camera — goes through Image to JPG Cyborg first, which is in the same account.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes — pick the photo from your camera roll on Android or on iOS 12 and higher. Nothing to install, and no permission to your whole library.

The look & the result

Will my photo be cropped?
No. This is worth being clear about, because most instant-print tools do crop: yours is not cropped, not scaled and not squared off. A wide photo stays wide and a tall one stays tall — the frame is built around whatever shape you send. Crop the border back off the result and you have the file you uploaded, pixel for pixel.
Does it change the colours?
No — not a single value. If you want the warm, faded look of film that sat in a drawer for twenty years, that is a separate tool: Vintage Cyborgdoes the colour and this one does the frame, and running a photo through both gives you an aged print. If you want a square first, Crop Image Cyborgcomes before either of them.
Can I choose the border width?
No — there's one look and no settings, which is why a whole set comes back matching. The margin is a fixed share of the picture's own width, so a large photo gets a proportionally large border rather than a hairline. If you want to tune every value yourself, that's a photo editor's job rather than this one's.
Which photos suit it?
Almost anything, because nothing is cropped away — but pictures with a little space around the subject look most like a real print, and busy edge-to-edge compositions gain least from a border. Square and portrait photos read most naturally as instant prints; a very wide panorama ends up a wide print with a white edge, which is a different object.
Can I write on the white strip?
That's what it's for. Print it and write with a fine marker once the ink is dry, or add text on screen before printing. Nothing of ours is printed there, so the whole margin is free.
How big is the finished print?
Your photograph's own size plus the border, so a 12-megapixel phone photo comes back about 4400 × 3990. Nothing is scaled down — send the biggest original you have and the print is big enough to go on a wall.
Can I do a whole set at once?
Yes — up to 50 photographs in one go, and they come back together as a ZIP. Because there are no settings, the fiftieth print matches the first exactly.
When does the download link expire?
After 60 minutes. Save the image as soon as it's ready — after that the link expires and you'd upload the photo again.

Can I sell the result?
If the photo is yours, the framed print is yours — print it, gift it, sell it, no attribution needed. If someone else took the photo, framing it doesn't transfer their rights, and a recognisable person still has a say in commercial use.
