This removes the sound, it doesn’t edit it. The audio track comes out whole — there’s no way to keep the voices and drop the music behind them, because in a finished video they are one recording. The picture is copied across rather than re-encoded, so it comes out identical and the file only gets a little smaller: measured on a 1080p clip, about 1%. Sound is a small share of a video’s weight. Most formats come back as an MP4; WMV and FLV keep their own container, because putting them in an MP4 would mean re-encoding the picture. Your download link stays live for 60 minutes.

Why not just mute it?

Because muting is a setting on your player, not on the file. Send that video anywhere and the sound is still in it — and a platform’s copyright scanner can still hear the music.

What is Extract Video Cyborg?

A web app that takes the audio track out of a video and gives you the footage on its own. Drop the file in, download a silent copy — same length, same picture, no watermark, no ads.

Which video formats can I upload, and what comes back?

Eleven of them: MP4, MOV, M4V, MKV, WebM, AVI, WMV, FLV, MPG, MPEG and 3GP. Nine come back as an MP4, because the picture can be moved into that container without touching it. WMV and FLV come back in their own format instead — an MP4 would mean re-encoding the footage, and not re-encoding is the whole point. GIFs are not accepted, because a GIF has no sound track to remove.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes — pick the video from your camera roll on Android or on iOS 12 and higher. Nothing to install. Use Wi-Fi for long clips: the upload is the slow part, not the processing.

Quality & results

Will the video lose quality?

No, and this one is measurable rather than a promise. Only the audio track is taken out; the picture is copied across untouched. We compared the video stream of a 1080p clip before and after and the checksum is identical — same resolution, same frame rate, same number of frames, same bytes.

Can I keep the voices and remove only the music?

No — in a finished video everything you hear is a single mixed track, so it comes out all together or not at all. If you need the speech, keep the original and re-add narration in an editor.

Can I silence just part of the clip?

Not here — the whole audio track is removed in one go. For a partial mute you’d need a timeline editor.

Will the file get much smaller?

A little. Measured on a 1080p clip with a normal soundtrack, about 1% — sound is a small share of a video’s size, so expect a few percent at most, not a transformation. If size is the actual problem, use Compress Video Cyborg instead.

When does the download link expire?

After 60 minutes. Save the video as soon as it’s ready — after that the link expires and you’d upload the original again, which for a long clip is the slow part.

Is my footage private?

The video is used to build the silent copy and then deleted along with it when the 60-minute link expires. Nothing is kept, watched, published or used to train anything — no ads, no trackers. That’s the whole reason this is paid rather than ad-funded.

Does removing the music make a clip safe to post?

It removes the audio claim, not every question. The footage itself still belongs to whoever filmed it, and people in it still have a say. Personal use and your own recordings are usually fine — get permission before publishing someone else’s video. Copy-protected files can’t be processed at all.
