Send the numbers, not the spreadsheet

Upload one workbook or several and get PDFs back — the layout fixed, the formulas hidden behind their results, and nothing anyone can accidentally retype. Whatever page setup you saved in Excel is exactly what the PDF follows.

Two steps. That's it.

1

Upload your workbooks

XLSX or XLS · up to 50
One file or several. The page setup already saved in the workbook is what it follows — so anything you fixed in Excel stays fixed.
2

Send the PDF

PDF q3-invoice-4471.pdf Same name · opens anywhere
It looks the same on their phone as on your screen — and no one can nudge a figure without it showing.

Wide sheets need a decision made somewhere A spreadsheet has no page edges; a PDF does, so a very wide table has to break across sheets of paper. If the result matters — an invoice, something a client sees — open the workbook once and set landscape, a print area, or Fit to 1 page wide under Page Layout. That setup is saved in the file and is exactly what the PDF follows. Tall tables are fine as they are; it's width that causes trouble. Your download link stays live for 60 minutes.

Why send a PDF at all?

Because an emailed workbook is an invitation. Somebody sorts one column without the others, or types over a formula, and sends it back as the new truth.

Looks the same everywhere

Their phone, their tablet, their ten-year-old print driver — same document. And it opens for people who have no spreadsheet app at all.

Formulas stay behind

Your margins, rates and workings don't travel with the figures you meant to share. What arrives is the result, not the model that produced it.

Company data stays yours

Nothing kept, read or used to train anything. Files go when the 60-minute link expires. Worth knowing, since the files converted here are usually invoices, salaries or client accounts.

If Excel is open in front of you and you have one file to send, Save As → PDF is free and finished in ten seconds — do that. This is for the twenty invoices, the laptop without Office, the phone on the way to a meeting. The free converter sites cover those too, in exchange for a watermark across your invoice, a queue, and a privacy policy worth reading twice before you upload a payroll sheet. Here the files are deleted after an hour and the PDF is clean.

What comes across, and what stays behind

A PDF captures the printed look of the workbook — which is more than a CSV keeps and less than the workbook itself. What that means in practice is worth being specific about.

Your page setup, not ours

Orientation, print area, margins, Scale to Fit — whatever is saved in the workbook is what the PDF follows. Nothing is imposed here, which is exactly why fixing the layout once in Excel is worth doing.

Every sheet, in order

Tabs follow one after another in the same document. If a sheet shouldn't be seen — workings, margins, notes — delete it from a copy first, or convert only the tab you mean to send.

Still a document, not a picture

🔍

The text stays selectable and searchable, so Ctrl+F works and figures can be copied out. If you specifically want a flat image, Excel to JPG Cyborg does that instead.

Charts and colours come through

Charts, cell fills, borders and number formats are part of the printed look, and that's what a PDF captures. Unlike CSV, nothing visual is thrown away.

Formulas arrive as their answers

fx

A PDF holds no formulas, so your rates and workings don't travel with the figures. Keep the workbook as your editable copy and treat the PDF as the thing you hand over.

The honest limit: a PDF is not a lock

No password is applied. A PDF makes casual editing awkward and removes your formulas from the file, which is what most people actually want — but it isn't encryption, and anyone determined can extract the text. For genuinely confidential figures, use a channel you trust as well.

When the spreadsheet shouldn't travel

Almost always because the recipient needs to read it, not run it.

W

Invoices & quotes

Built in a spreadsheet, sent as a document. Nobody should receive an invoice they can edit.

R

Reports to management

The board wants the figures, not your model. A PDF ends the conversation about which tab to look at.

P

Applications & submissions

Grant forms, tenders and portals ask for PDF because they need one fixed version on file.

F

Printing & handouts

A print shop or a meeting room printer produces what you saw. A workbook is a gamble on their settings.

T

Sign-off & records

What was agreed on the day, frozen — not a file that quietly changed after everyone approved it.

S

Clients without Excel

Plenty of people have no spreadsheet app at all. Everyone can open a PDF on a phone.

Whatever it's for, upload the workbooks and download the PDFs.

Common questions

Getting started

What is Excel to PDF Cyborg?
A web app that converts Excel workbooks into PDF documents. Upload one or several, get PDFs back with the same names — no watermark, no ads, nothing to install.
Do I need Excel installed?
No — that's often the reason people are here. It runs in the browser, so a phone, a Chromebook or a machine without Office all work.
Can I convert several files at once?
Yes — up to 50. Each comes back as its own PDF keeping its original name, which is the main reason to use this rather than doing them one by one in Excel.

How the PDF comes out

My table is too wide and breaks across pages.
A PDF has page edges and a spreadsheet doesn't, so something has to give. Open the workbook, go to Page Layout and set landscape orientation, or Scale to Fit → Width: 1 page, then convert. That setting is stored in the file and the PDF follows it — measured: a 20-column table that splits across three portrait pages comes out on one when the workbook says so.
What happens to multiple sheets?
They follow one after another in the same PDF, in the order they appear in the workbook. If a tab shouldn't be seen by whoever receives this — workings, margins, notes — delete it from a copy first, or use Split Excel Cyborg to convert only the sheet you mean to send.
Do charts and colours come through?
Yes — charts, cell colours, borders and number formats are part of the printed look, and that's what a PDF captures. Unlike CSV, nothing visual is thrown away.
Can the text be selected and searched?
Yes — it's a real document, not a picture of one, so Ctrl+F works and the figures can be copied out. If you specifically want a flat image, Excel to JPG Cyborg does that instead.
What happens to my formulas?
They arrive as the values they currently show. A PDF holds no formulas, which is usually the point: your margins, rates and workings don't travel with the figures you meant to share.
Does it lock the file with a password?
No. A PDF makes casual editing awkward and removes your formulas from the file, which is what most people want — but it isn't encryption. For genuinely confidential figures, use a channel you trust as well.
How big can the files be?
Up to 50 workbooks, 200 MB each. A large one simply takes longer — four workbooks, one of them three sheets, convert in under four seconds.

Price and privacy

How much does it cost?
A €1 day pass gives you 24 hours of unlimited conversions. Yearly (€6) and lifetime (€30) plans are also available, and every plan unlocks all 79 AppsCyborg tools.
When does the download link expire?
After 60 minutes. Save the PDFs as soon as they're ready — after that the link expires and you'd upload the workbooks again.
What happens to my workbook?
It's used to make the PDF and then deleted along with it when the 60-minute link expires. Nothing is kept, read, indexed or used to train anything, and requests are anonymous — no ads, no trackers. Worth knowing, since the files converted here are usually invoices, salaries or client accounts.
Can I use the result commercially?
Yes. The workbook is yours; the PDF made from it is yours to send, sell or publish. No attribution needed.
Still have a question?
We usually reply within a day.
