Drag them in or browse for them, up to fifty at a time. No style grid to scroll through, no prompt to write.
2

Download the cartoon

selfie-holiday-cartoon.png Full size · no watermark
An ordinary PNG at the size you sent it — set it as an avatar, print it, put it on a mug. Several photos arrive as a ZIP.

What makes a good one. Cartooning simplifies, so give it something worth simplifying: a face reasonably close to the camera, decent light, a background that isn’t a crowd. Small details are the first thing to go — glasses frames, jewellery and text on clothing may soften or vanish, and a group shot from across a room turns into blobs. One or two people, filling the frame, is the sweet spot. Send the biggest original you have: the effect is measured in pixels, so a small photo comes back much coarser than a large one. It is also the slowest tool here — allow about a minute for a phone photo. Want brushwork and canvas instead? That’s Painting Cyborg. Your download link stays live for 60 minutes.

Why not a free cartoon app?

Because the free version watches an ad, hands back a small copy with a logo across it, and wants your camera roll and a weekly subscription for the rest.

Full size, clean

You get the cartoon at the size you sent it, with nothing written across the corner.

No weekly trial trap

A €1 day pass is a one-off payment. Nothing renews, nothing bills you next week.

Faces stay private

No gallery, no feed, no camera-roll permission. Files go when the 60-minute link expires.

Fifty at a time

A whole family, or a whole team, in one go — back as a single ZIP. It is not quick, but it is unattended.

An illustrator draws you something nobody else has, and for a logo or a book cover that’s worth every euro. Free cartoon apps are free until you want the file: then it’s a small export with a logo on it, or a weekly plan that renews for months after the one avatar you actually wanted. Cartoon Cyborg is a drop box and a Download button, paid for by the €1 that got you in — so nothing has to be paid for with your face.

Avatars & profile pictures

Birthday cards & invites

A cartoon of the birthday child on the front of the card, printed at home for the cost of paper.

Gifts & printed things

Mugs, t-shirts, stickers and fridge magnets — flat colour and clean outlines print well on all of them.

Team pages

Cartooning everyone’s photo makes a team page look designed, even when the photos weren’t. Send all fifty in one run.

Something for the kids

Children love seeing themselves and the dog drawn. It costs a euro and a minute of waiting.

Slides & explainers

A cartooned photo carries an example or a persona on a slide without looking like stock photography.

Common questions

Getting started

What is Cartoon Cyborg?
A web app that redraws your photograph as a cartoon — flat colour, clean outlines, simplified detail. Drop a picture in, download the result at full size, no watermark, no ads.
How is this different from Painting or Pencil Cyborg?
Cartoon flattens the picture into blocks of colour with outlines — bold and graphic, typically fewer than a dozen colours in the whole image. Painting Cyborg keeps colour but adds brush texture. Pencil Cyborg drops colour entirely for graphite on paper white.
Which formats can I send, and what comes back?
JPG, PNG and WEBP all work, along with GIF, BMP and TIFF. What comes back is always a PNG, whatever you sent. Flat colour and hard outlines are exactly what PNG stores well and what JPEG handles badly — the same cartoon is about four times larger as a JPEG, and picks up visible fuzz along every outline.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes — pick the photo from your camera roll on Android or on iOS 12 and higher. Nothing to install, and no permission to your whole library.

Quality & results

Which photos work best?
A face close to the camera in decent light, one or two people, a background that isn’t a crowd. Group shots taken from a distance are the usual disappointment — each face gets too few pixels to survive simplifying.
Will it still look like the person?
Generally yes — the shapes that carry a likeness survive, which is why cartoons work at all. Fine details are what go: thin glasses frames, small jewellery, logos and text on clothing may soften or disappear.
Can I pick the style — anime, comic, caricature?
No — one style, one drop, one result, which is the point of it. Nothing is exaggerated either: proportions stay as they are in the photo, so it’s a cartoon rather than a caricature.
Does the size of the photo I send matter?
More than you would expect. The drawing is measured in pixels rather than in fractions of the frame, so the same picture sent small comes back much coarser — outlines look thick and clumsy, and fine features dissolve. Send the largest original you have and the result is finer, at the cost of taking longer.
Does it work on pets, cars or buildings?
Yes. Anything with clear shapes and good light cartoons well — dogs and cats especially. It costs nothing to run a second photo and compare.
What if my picture has a transparent background?
It stays transparent. Send a cut-out PNG and you get a cut-out cartoon back, ready to drop onto a card, a slide or a sticker sheet without a white rectangle around it.
Can I print it?
You get the same pixel size you sent, so send the biggest original you have. Flat colour and outlines are forgiving in print — they hold up on mugs, shirts and stickers better than a photograph does.
How long does it take, and can I send a whole set?
Up to 50 photos in one run, returned as a single ZIP — but this is the slowest tool on the site. A typical phone photo takes about a minute, a very large one several minutes, and a full batch of fifty can run for well over an hour. It works unattended, so start it and come back; the download link opens for 60 minutes once the whole batch is finished.
When does the download link expire?
60 minutes after the batch finishes. Save the images as soon as they’re ready — after that the link expires and you’d upload the photos again.

Pricing, privacy & rights

How much does it cost?
Creating an account is free; you pay when you download. A €1 day pass gives you 24 hours of unlimited cartoons. Yearly (€6) and lifetime (€30) plans are also available (+ VAT), and every plan unlocks all 79 AppsCyborg tools — with a 7-day money-back guarantee.
What happens to my photo?
It’s used to make your cartoon and then deleted along with it when the 60-minute link expires. Nothing is kept, published, shown in a gallery or used to train anything, and requests are anonymous — no ads, no trackers. That matters more with faces, and with children’s faces most of all.
Can I sell the result?
If the photo is yours, the cartoon is yours — print it, gift it, sell it, no attribution needed. If someone else took the photo, cartooning it doesn’t transfer their rights, and a recognisable person still has a say in commercial use.
Still have a question?
We usually reply within a day.
