What is Compress Image Cyborg?

A web app that makes an image file much smaller without changing its dimensions. Drop in a JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF or SVG and download a lighter version of the same picture — no watermark, no ads.

Which file types can I compress?

JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF and SVG. You get back the same type you put in — a PNG stays a PNG, transparency intact. If your file is a HEIC from an iPhone or something more unusual, convert it first with Image to JPG Cyborg.

Will my photo look worse?

Not at normal viewing size. Compression works by discarding detail your eye doesn’t register — on a screen, in a post or in print at ordinary size you won’t see a difference. Zoom deep into a flat area like sky and you may find slight softness. If you’re archiving a master file or preparing a large-format print, keep the original too. To shrink the picture itself rather than the file, convert and re-export with Image to JPG Cyborg.

Quality & results

How much smaller will it get?

It depends on the picture. Camera photos with lots of detail often drop by 80–90% — a 1.8 MB test photo came back at 255 KB. An image that’s already been compressed hard, or a simple graphic with flat colour, has less to give, sometimes almost nothing.

Can the file come back bigger?

No. Re-compressing an already-optimised image can genuinely produce a larger file, so when that happens we hand back your original instead. You’ll never download something bigger than what you uploaded.

Can I choose the quality level or a target size?

No — there’s one setting per format, tuned to take as much weight off as possible while keeping the picture looking right. It’s the setting most people would land on anyway, without the guessing.

Can I compress a whole folder at once?

Up to 50 images per batch, 200 MB each — drop them all in together and each one comes back compressed. A day pass covers unlimited batches for 24 hours. If you also need them in a different format, run them through Compress Video Cyborg afterwards.

Does it work on a phone?

Is the EXIF data kept?

No — camera metadata, including GPS location, is stripped as part of compressing, which is usually a good thing before posting a photo publicly. Don’t rely on the compressed copy to carry copyright or caption fields; keep your original if that data matters.
